Accountability Update (27-06-10)

Posted on 27. Jun, 2010 by Aaron in Accountability

Shame on me! I missed my last weeks accountability update. Good excuse though, with me being so busy recently I plain ran out of time to type one up and then to make matters worse I’m having a PayPal issue. Finally and best of all, I had a massive revelation from a certain Mr Perry Marshall.

All the web work is coming along very nicely and even though I’ve been working part time I’ve almost earned what I earn in a normal flat working month in my day job. Most of the week though was taken up with some layout issues with my clients site which I didn’t mind to be honest as it’ll make things easier for everybody in the long run and more importantly make for a stress free client.

Basically part of the site build looked great but would of made for a stressful time for the client in way of finding decent photos to fit a certain format.

Well, PayPal have been misbehaving and have made unauthorized transactions from my bank account. Which I’ve now subsequently disconnected and I’m now looking at finding a way of creating a risk free way of using PayPal.

I’ve given them one support ticket to rectify this problem before they find themselves at ground zero of the mother of all nasty customer complaint calls. Basically I’ve tracked this transaction down to when I set up my bank account with PayPal so I’m certain it’s a case of internal fraud but they have one chance to explain themselves before things get heated.

Onto the revelation of the week, which was about using PPC. I’d bought Perry Marshalls PPC Guide a few weeks back and really wanted to read it but with all that’s going on I had no time. That was until I had to cover at sales at work. In between customer calls I managed to get through over half of this massive guide and then realised that free SEO traffic would actually cost a business more in way of lost opportunities.

Also I’m majorly confident that you can, with the right pitch have a business digging into their wallets to pay you retainers and monthly PPC management fees on the mere mention of the benefits of using PPC correctly. I’ve already started to put into practice what I’ve learnt on the works account. Even better I can sell this as a service with a 100% clear conscience that I’m providing a service invaluable to the client and worth way way more than my monthly fees.

Oh, and I’ve still been racking up the miles on the bike – 176 km this weekend

Hours worked – 7hrs (Just this week)

Activities – Mostly fighting PayPal and browser (Explorer) compatibility issues.

Summary – Reading Perrys guide more than made up for the crap I’ve had to deal with this week.
